In Narere, five individuals were apprehended last night following a police operation at a residence that discovered six zip-lock bags filled with white crystals. This operation forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related activities in the region.

In a separate incident, police officers successfully uprooted 272 green plants believed to be marijuana in the Tacilevu farming area in Savusavu. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operation (ACP) Livai Driu emphasized the daily nature of these drug raids, noting that additional suspects are consistently arrested and charged.

ACP Driu highlighted the collaboration between the police and community leaders, stating that villagers are increasingly providing invaluable information that aids these operations. “We are also conducting raids in villages with the assistance of the Turaga ni Koro. It’s encouraging to see that people are coming forward to assist Police with information,” he remarked.

The Chief of Operations assured the public that the police will maintain their aggressive stance against drug activities throughout the festive season, aiming to eliminate illegal substances from communities. Although no arrests have been made concerning the uprooted plants as of yet, investigations into both incidents are ongoing.

This proactive approach by law enforcement, coupled with community support, signals a hopeful movement towards reducing drug-related issues in the area, creating safer environments for residents. The commitment to addressing this crucial concern is commendable and reflects a community-driven effort to enhance public safety.
