“Police Empowerment: A New Era of Community Engagement in Fiji”

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has praised the Northern Division officers for their commitment and teamwork in enhancing service delivery throughout policing operations. During his operational visit, he engaged with Senior Superintendent of Police Kemueli Baledrokadroka and the command group at Namuka House, discussing strategies to improve responses to challenges, especially in remote areas.

Tudravu expressed gratitude for the officers’ efforts, acknowledging the demanding nature of their work and the importance of supporting one another. He stated, “As leaders, we must drive and motivate our teams to meet community expectations.” The Commissioner assured the force that the Headquarters division would provide the necessary backing to tackle difficulties encountered in serving remote areas effectively.

During the review of the first two months of operations, he noted an uptick in drug reports, attributing this surge to intensified policing activities. This information aligns with earlier reports of ongoing efforts in the Northern Division to combat illegal drug possession, highlighting a collaborative approach between the community and law enforcement.

Reflecting on previous similar visits to other divisions, Commissioner Tudravu’s focus on fostering morale among officers stationed in rural and remote settings has been a consistent theme in his leadership. His recognition of the officers working during significant occasions, such as Father’s Day and religious observances, emphasizes a commitment to community engagement and appreciation for the sacrifices made by police personnel.

These proactive measures represent a positive step toward improving police-community relations and strengthening public confidence in law enforcement. By nurturing a culture of support and integrity, Commissioner Tudravu is laying the groundwork for a more unified and effective police force in Fiji.
