The Extra Supermarket-sponsored Police team celebrated a dominant 6-1 victory over the Army, successfully defending their title in the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl soccer competition, held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
The match commenced with Police taking an early lead, thanks to an unfortunate own goal by Army goalkeeper Epeli Loaniceva, leaving the score at 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, Police showcased their attacking prowess with further goals from Ratu Apenisa Anare and Sailosi Nalaubu, extending their lead to 3-0. Nalaubu found the back of the net again in the 56th minute. Despite Army’s best efforts, they managed to score only once through Salacieli Dakuna in the 61st minute, while Police added three more goals, solidifying their commanding win.
As the competition progresses in boxing, soccer, netball, and volleyball, the victorious Police team returned to Nasova, proud to once again hold the prestigious trophy. Meanwhile, anticipation builds for the rugby match between the two forces set to kick off tomorrow at 3 PM at the same stadium.
