Police Crackdown on Drug Trade Ahead of Holiday Rush

With the upcoming conferences, carnivals, and school holidays, police have issued a warning to those involved in the drug trade that they will face consequences.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu stated that drug enforcement efforts have been intensified in light of the expected increase in public activities during this period.

“We are also conducting raids on farms and have made recent findings in Kadavu, along with arrests for the unlawful possession of illicit drugs,” he mentioned.

The police are urging the community to provide information using the hotline 917 or Crime Stoppers at 919 to help combat the dangers of illicit drugs.

Additionally, it was noted that police K9 units are enhanced through a collaboration with the New Zealand Police, which bolsters the capabilities of Fiji Police’s Dog Patrol efforts in conjunction with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
