Police Crackdown: Officer’s Integrity at Stake in Drug Bust Scandal

Police officers are being reminded of their duty to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking, with the Fiji Police Force firm in its stance against any attempts by drug trade participants to interfere with their operations. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized this point after the arrest of a 31-year-old man in Caubati. The man was apprehended following the seizure of clear plastic bags containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, as well as dried leaves thought to be marijuana. During the arrest, he allegedly offered money to a police officer. ACP Driu assured the public that any reports involving police misconduct will lead to both internal disciplinary actions and criminal proceedings.
