Police have executed a series of raids targeting suspected marijuana cultivation in Lau, Savusavu, and Ovalau within the last 24 hours.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu reported that these operations are aimed at disrupting the drug supply chain by focusing on both cultivators and distributors.
A marijuana farm was discovered in Mavana, Vanuabalavu.
In Ovalau, authorities seized over 300 marijuana plants and groceries suspected to have been stolen from a school canteen, resulting in the arrest of one man.
In the Northern Division, a raid near Lea village led to the recovery of more than 600 plants, along with dried branches and seedlings, prompting the arrest of a 20-year-old farmer.
Another operation in the Southern Division at Tacirua resulted in the confiscation of dried branches and small bags of dried leaves, with a 43-year-old man taken into custody.
All confiscated items are currently being analyzed.
