Police have conducted a series of raids aimed at suspected marijuana cultivation in Lau, Savusavu, and Ovalau within the last 24 hours. Assistant Police Commissioner Livai Driu highlighted that these operations are part of efforts to disrupt the drug supply chain by targeting both cultivators and distributors.
During a raid in Mavana, Vanuabalavu, authorities uncovered a marijuana farm. In Ovalau, law enforcement seized over 300 marijuana plants alongside groceries believed to have been stolen from a school canteen, resulting in the arrest of a suspect.
In the Northern Division, a raid near Lea village led to the confiscation of more than 600 marijuana plants, dried branches, and seedlings, and a 20-year-old farmer was taken into custody. Meanwhile, another raid in Tacirua in the Southern Division resulted in the recovery of dried branches and small bags of dried leaves, with a 43-year-old man arrested.
All seized items are currently under analysis.
