Police Crackdown: Major Marijuana Raids in Fiji Uncovered

Authorities conducted farm raids in Lau, Savusavu, and Ovalau over the last 24 hours targeting suspected marijuana cultivation.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, expressed that these operations aim to disrupt the drug supply chain by focusing on both cultivators and distributors.

In Mavana, Vanuabalavu, officials uncovered a marijuana farm.

On Ovalau, more than 300 marijuana plants were confiscated alongside items believed to have been stolen from a school canteen, resulting in the arrest of one individual.

In the Northern Division, a raid near Lea village led to the recovery of over 600 marijuana plants, dried branches, and seedlings; a 20-year-old farmer was apprehended.

Another operation in Tacirua within the Southern Division resulted in the seizure of dried branches and small bags containing dried leaves, leading to the detention of a 43-year-old man.

All seized materials are currently under analysis.
