Last night, five individuals were taken into custody in Narere following a police operation at a residence where officers discovered six zip-lock bags filled with white crystals. Additionally, on the same day, a police team successfully removed 272 green plants, suspected to be marijuana, from the Tacilevu farming area in Savusavu.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu emphasized that drug raids are conducted daily, resulting in multiple arrests and charges. “We are also carrying out raids in villages with support from the Turaga ni Koro. It’s heartening to note that community members are coming forward with information to assist the police,” ACP Driu stated.
The Chief of Operations reiterated the commitment of the police to continue their efforts against drug-related activities during the festive season, aiming to eliminate drugs from the community. While there have been no arrests linked to the uprooted plants yet, investigations into both cases are actively ongoing.
This concentrated effort by law enforcement reflects a community-driven approach to combat drug-related issues, showcasing the positive impact of collaborative efforts between the police and local residents. As the festive season approaches, this initiative offers hope for a safer environment for everyone.
