Law enforcement conducted a series of raids over the past 24 hours targeting suspected marijuana cultivation in Lau, Savusavu, and Ovalau. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu indicated that these initiatives aim to disrupt the drug supply chain by concentrating on both cultivators and distributors.

In Mavana, Vanuabalavu, a marijuana farm was uncovered. Meanwhile, on Ovalau, authorities confiscated over 300 marijuana plants along with groceries suspected of being stolen from a school canteen, resulting in one man’s arrest.

In the Northern Division, a raid close to Lea village led to the seizure of more than 600 marijuana plants, along with dried branches and seedlings; a 20-year-old farmer was taken into custody. Another operation in the Southern Division, specifically in Tacirua, resulted in the confiscation of dried branches and small bags containing dried leaves, with a 43-year-old man arrested.

All items seized during these operations are currently undergoing analysis.
