Five individuals were taken into custody last night in Narere following a police operation at a residence where they discovered six zip-lock bags filled with white crystalline substances. In a separate incident, police eradicated 272 green plants suspected to be marijuana at the Tacilevu farming area in Savusavu.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu confirmed that drug raids are being conducted daily, resulting in multiple arrests and charges. He emphasized the importance of community collaboration, stating, “We are also conducting raids in villages with the assistance of the Turaga ni Koro. It’s encouraging to see that people are coming forward to assist police with information.”
ACP Driu assured the public that the police will maintain their focus on drug-related activities throughout the festive season in an effort to combat the drug issue. Although there have been no arrests in connection to the uprooted marijuana plants yet, investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
This proactive approach by law enforcement highlights the community’s role in fighting drug abuse and ensuring public safety. By working together, they hope to create a healthier environment for all residents, making such operations a collective effort rather than solely reliant on the police.
In summary, the police are actively pursuing drug-related activities with community support, conducting regular raids and investigations to ensure the safety and well-being of the public as they approach the busy holiday season.
