In Navua, two 35-year-old men were taken into custody by police after dried marijuana leaves and methamphetamine were discovered in their possession. These arrests are part of a wider initiative where police are conducting snap checks across five divisions this month.
The arrests were initiated by the Southern Division Crime and Intelligence Unit (SD SOCIU) during a previous raid in Raiwai, a suburb just outside of Suva City. Alongside the drugs, police also confiscated several items suspected to be stolen, as well as both foreign and local currencies. These findings have resulted in the arrest of the two men and a woman, with the confiscated materials sent for further analysis.
In separate activities, police at a roadblock in Savusavu discovered a black bag filled with dried leaves believed to be marijuana after searching the luggage compartment of a bus. Additionally, police arrested two vehicle passengers in Nadi on Monday night after seizing more branches of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana from them.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu highlighted that these snap checks have been productive, thus reinforcing the police’s commitment to continuing these joint operations across the various divisions.
The ongoing police efforts to curb drug-related offenses indicate a proactive approach to public safety and drug prevention in the community. This steadfast action can foster a healthier environment, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and cooperation with law enforcement.
Summary: Two men were arrested in Navua following police operations that seized drugs and stolen items. Police have been actively conducting snap checks across multiple divisions to address drug-related issues, with successful outcomes reported.
