Five individuals were apprehended in Narere last night following a police raid on a residence, where officers seized six zip-lock bags filled with white crystals, suspected to be illegal substances.
Earlier that day, a police operation in the Tacilevu farming area of Savusavu led to the removal of 272 plants believed to be marijuana. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operation (ACP) Livai Driu emphasized that drug raids are conducted daily, resulting in numerous arrests and charges.
ACP Driu noted that raids are also being executed in village areas, thanks to the collaboration with local leaders, such as the Turaga ni Koro. He expressed optimism about the support from the community, stating, “It’s encouraging to see that people are coming forward to assist Police with information.”
The Chief of Operations highlighted the ongoing commitment of the Police to continue these drug raids throughout the festive season, aiming to eliminate drug-related issues. Although no arrests have yet been made concerning the uprooted plants, investigations into both incidents remain active.
This proactive approach by the police signifies their dedication to ensuring a safer environment for the community. The engagement of local residents and leaders in providing vital information underscores a collective effort to tackle drug-related challenges effectively.
In summary, the police’s intensified focus on eradicating illegal drugs, supported by the community, paints a hopeful picture of collaborative crime prevention efforts during the festive season.
