Last night in Narere, police apprehended five individuals following a raid on a residence that uncovered six zip-lock bags filled with white crystals. In a separate operation yesterday, authorities also destroyed 272 green plants suspected to be marijuana in the Tacilevu farming region of Savusavu.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, indicated that these drug raids are occurring daily, resulting in multiple arrests and charges. He highlighted the involvement of local communities, particularly mentioning that police are collaborating with the Turaga ni Koro, the village headmen, to enhance their efforts. “It’s encouraging to see that people are coming forward to assist Police with information,” stated ACP Driu.
The Chief of Operations reaffirmed the commitment of law enforcement to continue drug raids throughout the festive season as part of their mission to combat drug-related issues. Although no arrests have yet been made regarding the uprooted marijuana plants, investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
In summary, the ongoing efforts by the police to combat drug use and distribution showcase a proactive approach to community safety. With increasing cooperation from the public, there is hope that these initiatives will lead to a significant reduction in drug-related activities, ultimately contributing to a safer environment for everyone.
