This morning, two individuals were apprehended on charges related to drug possession during an operation conducted by the Fiji Police and the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU). The joint raid took place in Wailea, Vatuwaqa, where the suspects were found with ten dried branches presumed to be marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu reported that the raid occurred around 2 AM. The operation benefitted significantly from the FDDU’s K-9 capabilities, allowing the team to identify the illicit substances with efficiency.
ACPO Driu emphasized the police’s commitment to continue drug-related operations. This includes conducting checks at various checkpoints and monitoring areas where individuals might be loitering during late-night hours.
The suspects are presently in custody as the investigation is ongoing.
