Two 35-year-old men were arrested in Navua after police discovered dried marijuana leaves and methamphetamine in their possession.
These arrests are part of a broader crackdown, with police conducting snap checks across all five divisions this month. During a recent operation by the Southern Division Crime and Intelligence Unit (SD SOCIU) in Raiwai, near Suva City, authorities confiscated white substances believed to be methamphetamine, various items suspected of being stolen, and both local and foreign currencies.
In addition to the men, a woman was also arrested during the raid, and all confiscated materials have been sent for further analysis.
Further police activity included checks at a roadblock in Savusavu, where officers searched a bus and found a black bag filled with dried leaves thought to be marijuana. Additionally, two passengers were taken into custody in the Western Division on Monday night after police discovered more dried leaves believed to be marijuana in their vehicle during a snap check along Sabeto Road in Nadi.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, stated that the snap checks are proving effective and affirmed that these joint operations will continue across the police divisions.
