The Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau, has expressed gratitude for the support provided by their Fijian security partners in ensuring peace and security during the Solomon Islands General Elections.
Commissioner Mangau conveyed the RSIPF’s appreciation to Fiji Police’s Assistant Commissioner of Police, Livai Driu, who visited the RSIPF on behalf of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Commander and the Acting Commissioner of Police. He was accompanied by FPF contingent leader, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Simione Tamanisau.
Commissioner Mangau recognized the contributions of their Fijian colleagues in both reactive and proactive policing efforts, emphasizing the respect and understanding between their communities as Melanesian brothers and sisters.
He highlighted that through the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Policing, police engagements have significantly increased due to such deployments, enhancing networking amongst law enforcement agencies including the RSIPF, FPF, and Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
After observing the positive outcomes of community-based programs organized by the Solomon Islands International Assistance Force (SIAF), Commissioner Mangau stated the RSIPF’s community policing strategies will adopt best practices demonstrated by their partners.
ACP Driu reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to assisting their Solomon Islands counterparts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and partnerships.
A total of twenty police officers were deployed under the joint Cori Mada 3 Task Force, led by the Republic of Fiji Military Force, to support peace and security operations in the Solomon Islands during the election period.
