Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has issued a strong warning against the stoning of police vehicles, asserting that such actions are unacceptable. This comes after the arrest of a suspect who reportedly hurled stones at a police vehicle on Ratu Mara Road late last night.

The incident occurred after 9 PM, when the police vehicle was attacked. Commissioner Tudravu remarked that this behavior undermines the police’s efforts to uphold law and order. He urged the public to work alongside law enforcement in crime prevention initiatives, saying, “Such incidents will not be condoned.”

Furthermore, efforts are underway to locate a second suspect, whose identity has been established by police. The arrested individual is currently being questioned at the Nabua Police Station.

The Commissioner’s statements reflect ongoing concerns about community cooperation with law enforcement. His calls for respect towards police officers echo sentiments made following a separate incident in Taveuni that garnered significant attention. In light of these events, Tudravu emphasized the necessity of public collaboration to create safer communities.

These developments not only highlight the police’s commitment to community engagement but also foster hope for improved relationships between the public and law enforcement. With continued efforts, there is potential for cultivating a more peaceful environment and ramping up trust in the policing system.
