“Police Commander’s Bold Warning: Step Up or Step Down!”

Police officers in the Western Division have been issued a stark ultimatum: either elevate their performance in policing or consider resigning. This directive came from the head of the Western Division during the end-of-quarter parade, which took place yesterday for officers stationed from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa emphasized the necessity for officers to regard every report with utmost seriousness and to provide appropriate guidance when necessary. He highlighted that the public’s expectations from the police have increased, urging officers to either rise to the challenge or step down if they are unable to handle the pressures of their roles.

SSP Vaisewa also reminded his officers to address concerns effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. He stated, “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied.”

Moreover, he echoed the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s stance on zero tolerance for officers engaging in criminal behavior. SSP Vaisewa affirmed that any officer found exploiting their uniform for personal gain through illegal activities would face consequences.
