Police Commander Demands Accountability: Are Officers Ready to Comply?

The Divisional Police Commander for the Western Division, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, has called on his officers to effectively address complaints by ensuring adherence to established procedures.

During his address at the end of the fourth quarter divisional parade for officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka, SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report with utmost seriousness and providing appropriate guidance to those making complaints.

“No report should be taken lightly, and it is crucial to offer proper advice so that complainants feel satisfied with the response,” he stated.

SSP Vaisewa also reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police’s stance on zero tolerance towards any officers engaging in criminal activities. He warned that any officer abusing their position or uniform for personal gain through illegal actions would face serious consequences.

He stressed the necessity for police officers to be more responsive, urging them to either rise to the demands of their roles or consider resigning if they are unable to fulfill their responsibilities in policing.
