Suspended Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho has officially submitted his resignation. This was confirmed by Prime Minister and chair of the Constitutional Offices Commission, Sitiveni Rabuka, who stated that Qiliho resigned last week. The Constitutional Offices Commission is scheduled to convene later this week.
Qiliho was suspended in 2023 by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere based on the Prime Minister’s recommendation, due to allegations of misconduct. He is currently serving a two-year sentence for abuse of office. Additionally, it has been reported that Qiliho sought legal counsel from his lawyers regarding his resignation.
