Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu recently conducted a visit to several police stations and posts in the Eastern and Western Divisions of Fiji. The purpose of this visit was to personally express gratitude to officers serving in rural areas, acknowledging the immense dedication and sacrifices they make, often at the expense of their comfort and personal lives.
During his tour, Commissioner Tudravu emphasized the importance of prioritizing professional duties, especially during significant occasions when officers are required to remain active in their roles, such as Father’s Day. “Policing necessitates setting aside personal challenges and comforts to ensure we get the work done,” he remarked, underlining the demanding nature of their responsibilities.
In a display of community connection, Tudravu participated in a Father’s Day service at the Navosa Methodist Church, where he engaged with officers from the Navosa Police Station. This visit not only reinforced the bond between officers and their community but also illustrated the values of kindness and gratitude, principles that are essential within the police force, resonating with both Methodist and Muslim faiths.
This proactive approach by Commissioner Tudravu serves to uplift officers and strengthen the morale of those on the frontline. His leadership aims to enhance community trust in law enforcement, as he builds on his extensive experience in policing. The efforts of Commissioner Tudravu bode well for the future of the Fiji Police Force, promoting the critical role officers play in maintaining safety and order in their communities.
With such initiatives, there is hope for continued improvement in police-community relations, which contributes to a safer and more supportive environment for all.
