The Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, has called on the wives of police officers to promote healthy habits within their families. He made these remarks in Lautoka on Thursday during the opening of the Fiji Police Wives Annual Inter-formation Tournament.
Mr. Fong Chew highlighted that there have been 15 police fatalities this year, a decline from 19 deaths the previous year. He stressed the importance of prioritizing health, noting that many of the deceased were young officers whose deaths were often associated with lifestyle diseases and poor lifestyle choices.
“You, our families, understand the pressures of policing better than anyone,” he said. “I urge you to continue fostering healthy habits at home, as you play a crucial role in instigating positive changes for your families’ well-being.”
