Three individuals are currently in police custody following a significant drug bust. On Sunday afternoon, the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU) collaborated with local law enforcement to conduct a raid at a residence in Tamole Settlement, New Town.

During the operation, a 56-year-old unemployed man and a 23-year-old car wash attendant willingly surrendered a total of 117 sachets of dried leaves, wrapped in aluminum foil, which are believed to be marijuana. This initial discovery led to further investigation, culminating in the arrest of a 53-year-old casual worker from the same area. He was apprehended the following day after police, acting on a search warrant, raided his residence. The suspect voluntarily handed over additional dried leaves, also believed to be marijuana.

This incident underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related issues in the community. The cooperation from the suspects in surrendering the drugs may reflect a growing awareness of the dangers associated with illegal substances, potentially serving as a turning point for individuals involved.

Overall, these proactive measures taken by the police and the FDDU not only aim to curb drug-related activities but also highlight the importance of community safety. Such initiatives can pave the way for healthier, drug-free environments in local neighborhoods.
