Police Bust Drug Operation in Vatuwaqa: Two Arrested

Two individuals were apprehended this morning following a police operation that uncovered illicit drugs. A coordinated raid by the Fiji Police and the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU) took place in Wailea, Vatuwaqa, where both suspects were found in possession of 10 dried branches suspected to be marijuana.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu reported that the operation occurred at approximately 2 a.m. He highlighted the effectiveness of the FDDU’s K-9 units, noting their significant contribution to the successful detection of the drugs.

Moving forward, ACP Driu emphasized the police’s commitment to conducting ongoing drug raids and implementing checks at various checkpoints, especially targeting areas where individuals may be engaged in suspicious activities late at night. The arrested suspects are currently being held in police custody as investigations continue.
