The Police boxing team delivered a strong performance on the first day of the Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition held at the LICI Court in Suva, winning seven out of the eleven bouts on Tuesday.
Leading the way for the Police team was national amateur boxing representative Jone Davule, who set an example for his teammates by securing victory over the Army’s Pita Nasowaqa by points in his opening match.
In the lightweight division, Police fighter Petero Vunivalu achieved a notable win against Army’s Ratu Kelevi Mawi. However, it was not all one-sided, as the Army team also celebrated victories; Samuela Naqari won his match against Jone Tuitabu in the 80 to 86 kg weight category. Additionally, Army fighters Rusiate Qalo, Noa Yabakidrau, and Meli Nailumu also showcased their skills with impressive wins.
