The Police boxing team had a strong performance on the first day of the Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition held at the LICI Court in Suva, winning seven out of eleven bouts. Leading the team was National Amateur Boxing representative Jone Davule, who set the tone by securing a victory over the Army’s Pita Nasowaqa on points.
In addition, Petero Vunivalu showcased his skills in the lightweight division, defeating Army’s Ratu Kelevi Mawi. However, the Army team also had moments of success, with Samuela Naqari emerging victorious against Jone Tuitabu in the 80 to 86 kg category. Members of the Army team, including Rusiate Qalo, Noa Yabakidrau, and Meli Nailumu, also recorded wins.
The competition is set to continue today with the finals, promising more exciting matches ahead for boxing fans.
