The Police boxing team had an impressive start at the Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition held at the LICI Court in Suva, winning seven out of eleven bouts on the opening day. Jone Davule, the team captain and a representative of the National Amateur Boxing, set the tone with a decisive victory over Army’s Pita Nasowaqa, winning on points.
In the lightweight division, Petero Vunivalu also secured a victory, defeating Army’s Ratu Kelevi Mawi. However, not all matches went in favor of the Police, as Army’s Samuela Naqari triumphed over Jone Tuitabu in the 80 to 86kg category. The Army team also celebrated wins from fighters Rusiate Qalo, Noa Yabakidrau, and Meli Nailumu.
As the competition progresses, the anticipation builds for the finals taking place today, where spectators can expect more excitement and fierce contests among the boxers.
