The Police boxing team achieved a strong start in the opening day of the Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition held at the LICI Court in Suva, winning seven out of eleven bouts. Leading the way for the Police team was Jone Davule, a national amateur boxing representative, who showcased his skills by defeating Army’s Pita Nasowaqa by points in his first match.
In the lightweight category, Petero Vunivalu delivered another victory for the Police team by overcoming Army’s Ratu Kelevi Mawi. The Army team also saw success, with Samuela Naqari claiming victory against Jone Tuitabu in the 80 to 86 kg division. Additional wins for the Army were secured by Rusiate Qalo, Noa Yabakidrau, and Meli Nailumu.
The competition continues with its finals scheduled for today, promising more thrilling matches as teams strive for victory.
