The Police boxing team showcased their strength on the first day of the Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition held at the LICI Court in Suva on Tuesday. Out of 11 matches, the team emerged victorious in seven bouts, indicating a promising performance.
Leading the charge was Jone Davule, the team captain and a member of the National Amateur Boxing squad, who won his match against Army’s Pita Nasowaqa by points. In the lightweight division, Petero Vunivalu also secured a win over Ratu Kelevi Mawi from the Army team.
On the Army’s side, Samuela Naqari triumphed over Jone Tuitabu in the 80-86kg weight class, adding to the competitive spirit of the event. Other successful Army boxers included Rusiate Qalo, Noa Yabakidrau, and Meli Nailumu, contributing to a well-fought competition.
