Police have arrested two men, aged 35 and 41, after stopping and searching a vehicle along the Natabua seaside, where dried leaves believed to be marijuana were found. Several syringes and zip-lock bags were also seized.
The two individuals are now in custody as investigations continue. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, stated that the Police K9 capabilities, supported by the Fiji Police Detector Dog Unit, are regularly deployed to assist with both special and routine operations.
ACP Driu mentioned that snap checks are being conducted not only to target drugs but also to help detect other crimes. He expressed gratitude for the assistance of supporting agencies such as the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and the New Zealand Police, emphasizing the shared commitment to keeping the nation and region safe from crime threats.
