A 23-year-old man has been taken into police custody following an alleged assault and robbery incident in Raiwaqa, Suva, earlier today. The incident reportedly took place outside the Milverton Road Top Shop, where the suspect, a resident of Raiwai, and two accomplices confronted the victim.
According to police reports, the victim was waiting for a bus when he was attacked and robbed of his watch and $9 in cash. The assault was captured on video and subsequently circulated on social media, drawing significant attention to the incident.
The victim promptly reported the crime to the authorities, which led to a swift police response. Following a search, the suspect was apprehended along Nairai Road and is currently being held at the Raiwaqa Police Station for further questioning. Meanwhile, police efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining accomplices involved in the robbery.
