Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka paid an unexpected visit to former parliamentarian Salote Radrodro at her home in Namulomulo, Nabouwalu, Bua, yesterday. This visit was significant as it was the first time he met with Ms. Radrodro since her release from prison earlier this September.

During his visit, Mr. Rabuka took the opportunity to gain insights into the copra industry and its operations, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to understanding key sectors affecting the local economy. The Prime Minister was on a tour of important sites associated with the China Aid Vanua Levu Road Development Project when he decided to stop by Ms. Radrodro’s residence.

Ms. Radrodro’s son, Alipate Radrodro, expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s visit, noting the valuable conversation they shared. He mentioned that they previously had an opportunity to meet Mr. Rabuka just days before the New Year, highlighting a sense of connection and community spirit during the festive period. He stated, “We hope for a safe New Year and 2025,” reflecting a hopeful outlook for the future.

The visit surprised Ms. Radrodro’s family, who were attending a church service at the time. In turn, Ms. Radrodro extended her best wishes to the Prime Minister and the Coalition Government for the New Year.

This visit not only reinforces the importance of community dialogues between political leaders and constituents, but it also sheds light on the Prime Minister’s engagement with local industries, which is essential for the prosperity and growth of the region.

The article serves as a reminder of how political leaders can make an impact at the community level, fostering hope and collaboration as they look toward a promising future.
