Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to take center stage at the Denarau Golf Open Pro-Am this weekend, joining golf enthusiasts and fellow competitors at the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club. The tournament, which kicks off today and concludes tomorrow, features an exciting mix of professional and amateur golfers participating in one of Fiji’s premier golfing events.
The Prime Minister will be playing alongside notable golfers Ioane Sigarara, Sai Tokelau, and Eddie Yuen in a much-anticipated round of golf. Amitesh Chandra, president of Golf Fiji, expressed that the Prime Minister’s involvement is sure to enhance the event’s excitement, highlighting Rabuka’s passion for the sport.
The first day consists of an 18-hole Pro-Am format with a shotgun start scheduled for 9:30 AM. A total of 108 players have registered, promising a day filled with competitive golf. The second day will maintain a similar stroke play format, where participants will compete for prizes in both gross and net categories. Additional awards will be presented for nearest to the pin on all par-3 holes and long drives for both men and women, further enriching the competitive atmosphere.
Defending champion Tomasi Tuivuna is aiming to retain his title, while Shakeel Pillay, who recently won the Ba Open, is the standout favorite in the Amateur Division.
