Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital in Legalega Nadi is making strides in healthcare innovation with the launch of a new three-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This unit is designed to serve critically ill patients in the private sector throughout the Western corridor.
The ICU will also accommodate critically ill tourists requiring multi-organ support and advanced intensive care, as well as stabilization and preparation for medical repatriation to their home countries. Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, a staff consultant intensivist and anaesthesiologist at PSH Specialist Hospital, noted that this service will enhance the perioperative and surgical services already offered by the hospital.
Additionally, the development of intensive care services includes important open-heart off-pump procedures. Over the past two weeks, PSH Private Specialists’ Hospital has also introduced 24-hour General Practitioner services for local communities along the Western corridor, benefiting both hotels and remote islands in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.
PSH Specialist Hospital is dedicated to providing emergency support, elective surgical procedures, perioperative anaesthetic services, advanced diagnostic services, cardiovascular services, interventional cardiology, obstetric and gynecological services, and plans to soon launch ophthalmology and pediatric services.
Director Parvish Kumar expressed the institution’s ambition to advance specialist tertiary and quaternary care, aiming to become the leading provider of patient-focused health services in Fiji and the wider Pacific region. Clinical Director Dr. Sanson F. Fousaga emphasized that the hospital also offers specialist medical referral services to patients from the Pacific Islands, ensuring that intensive care services include medical retrieval for those needing to access high-level specialty care at PSH Specialist Hospital.
