Three hotels in Suva successfully raised around $10,000 as part of the 2024 Pinktober campaign. The initiative involved collaboration between the Fiji National Provident Fund-owned Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn. Funds raised will be shared among three charities: the Fiji Cancer Society, WOWS Kids Fiji, and Cure Kids Fiji.

Throughout October, the three hotels united efforts to support Pinktober by hosting various fundraising events, linking hospitality to a worthy cause. Guests had the opportunity to partake in distinctively themed experiences, including pink-themed cocktails, upscale high teas, indulgent spa treatments, and the ‘Cup of Kindness’ coffee initiative. According to a media release from the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), 10 percent of all event proceeds are earmarked for cancer care and awareness programs in Fiji, inviting both guests and staff to contribute positively to the community.

Lachlan Walker, the IHG portfolio general manager, expressed gratitude towards the campaign’s supporters. He stated, “On behalf of our owners, the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), our management, and colleagues, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported our Pinktober initiatives throughout October. The generosity and kindness shown by our guests, colleagues, and community have truly humbled us.”

Funds from the campaign will be allocated as follows: half to the Fiji Cancer Society, with $2,500 each donated to WOWS Kids Fiji and Cure Kids Fiji.

This event serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that collective efforts and compassion can have on the community, striving to enhance the lives of those affected by cancer in Fiji.
