Publicly traded Pacific Green Industries (Fiji) Limited (PGI) has confirmed its continued partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as its external auditor, following PwC’s transition to the globally recognized Grant Thornton firm that will take effect on December 7, 2024. Ravin Chandra, PGI’s chairperson, communicated the board’s acceptance of this change at the annual general meeting last June, assuring stakeholders that the quality of services will remain intact.

Despite PwC’s transition, Chandra emphasized that the same engagement team will be retained to ensure seamless service delivery. “PwC has assured us that this transition will not affect the quality of their services,” he stated. Additionally, he acknowledged the longstanding dedication and expertise that the audit team has provided over the years.

The transition comes as PwC departs Fiji after over 60 years of offering vital audit, assurance, and tax services. The firm will be joining Grant Thornton, the seventh largest accounting firm globally, which boasts a substantial presence across more than 140 markets and employs over 70,000 professionals, generating revenues exceeding $7 billion annually.

This move reflects a strategic shift within the Fijian audit landscape but also presents opportunities for Pacific Green and others in the local market. Grant Thornton’s commitment to maintaining high standards of service is expected to bolster client confidence and enhance operational stability amidst the change.

In a broader context, the arrival of Grant Thornton signals renewed potential for economic growth and innovation within Fiji’s business environment. The collaboration between local firms and experienced professionals promises to pave the way for enhanced business practices and continued financial development, contributing positively to the local economy.

Overall, the transition appears to position PGI and the broader Fijian business ecosystem favorably for future endeavors.
