Native leaseholders with unpaid lease arrears totaling $2.6 million have been warned to settle their debts or face the publication of their names in the media. The iTaukei Lands Trust Board (TLTB) has issued notices to tenants in the Central and Eastern divisions regarding their outstanding leases.
The TLTB stated, “If your lease falls under any of the townships listed below, please take immediate action to settle your arrears. We encourage you to visit our offices and consult with our arrears recovery teams for options on partial payments if you cannot pay in full.”
The board further informed leaseholders that failure to clear their arrears by October 1, 2024, will result in their names being published in print media outlets. They strongly encourage timely payment of outstanding amounts to avoid this consequence.
