Native leaseholders with outstanding arrears totaling $2.6 million have been instructed to settle their debts or face the possibility of having their names published in print media.
The iTaukei Lands Trust Board issued a notice to tenants located in the Central and Eastern divisions.
“If your lease is associated with any of the townships mentioned, it is imperative to act quickly to resolve your arrears. Please visit our offices to speak with our arrears recovery team regarding part payments if you cannot pay the full amount,” stated TLTB.
Furthermore, TLTB warned that if arrears are not settled by October 1, 2024, the names of the leaseholders will be made public in various print media outlets.
“We strongly encourage you to address any outstanding payments promptly to prevent this action,” they added.
