Native leaseholders with outstanding lease arrears totaling $2.6 million have been notified to settle their debts or face the publication of their names in the media. The iTaukei Lands Trust Board (TLTB) has issued notices to tenants in the Central and Eastern divisions regarding these arrears.
TLTB stated, “If your lease falls under any of the townships listed below, please take immediate action to settle your arrears. We encourage you to visit our offices and discuss options for part payments if you are unable to pay in full.”
The notice emphasizes that failure to clear arrears by October 1, 2024, will result in names being published in print media. TLTB strongly advises leaseholders to resolve any outstanding payments to avoid this consequence.
