Native leaseholders who currently have lease arrears totaling $2.6 million have been urged to settle their debts or risk having their names published in newspapers. The iTaukei Lands Trust Board has issued this notice to tenants located in the Central and Eastern divisions.
The TLTB stated, “If your lease is associated with any of the mentioned townships, please take immediate steps to clear your arrears. We encourage you to visit our offices and speak to our arrears recovery teams about possible part payments if you are unable to make a full payment.”
They added that failure to resolve the arrears by October 1, 2024, will result in the publication of names in various print media outlets. The board strongly encourages leaseholders to settle their outstanding payments promptly to prevent such measures.
