Native leaseholders with outstanding lease arrears totaling $2.6 million have been warned to settle their debts or face having their names published in local print media. The iTaukei Lands Trust Board has issued notices to tenants in the Central and Eastern divisions, urging prompt action.
The Board stated, “If your lease is among those listed in the townships below, please take immediate steps to address your arrears. We encourage you to visit our offices and engage with our arrears recovery teams for options, including part payments if you are unable to pay the total amount.”
Leaseholders are advised that failure to clear their outstanding payments by October 1, 2024, will result in their names being published in various print media outlets. The TLTB emphasizes the importance of settling any pending payments swiftly to prevent this outcome.
