Pawan Singh, a former defender for Fiji U20 and Labasa, delivered an impressive performance as NZ Nadroga secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Narere/Makoi in their opening match of the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup in Sydney.
NZ Nadroga, featuring players such as Jeshal Kumar and Shahil Dave, started strongly by scoring first through striker Akshay Shandil. Singh then added the second goal with a stunning volley that left the Narere/Makoi defense and goalkeeper stunned.
Despite being down, Narere/Makoi, which boasted players like Abhishek Deo, Nischal Lal, and Prashant Chand, managed to score and close the gap shortly after. They nearly leveled the match towards the end, but Singh’s crucial timing and clearance ensured that NZ Nadroga emerged victorious.
In other matches from the evening, NZ Ba triumphed over Uluisila with a score of 1-0, while Sydney Ba and Nakasi ended in a 1-1 draw.
