Patience and precise ball control will be essential for Extra Bula FC as they strive for success in the ongoing OFC Pro League. The team marked a significant milestone by securing their first victory of the season with a narrow 1-0 win against a 10-man Solomon Kings FC on Sunday at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

The match saw midfielder Nabil Begg net the decisive goal in the 43rd minute, capitalizing on a well-timed pass from Setareki Hughes. The dynamic of the game shifted early in the second half when Solomon Kings FC’s Don Keana received a red card for taking down Bula FC winger Kaile Auvray as he sprinted toward goal. Despite having a numerical advantage, Bula FC found it challenging to extend their lead, while Solomon Kings FC squandered several chances to score, further emphasizing the need for improved patience and control in future games.

Captain Roy Krishna, speaking after the match, expressed relief and happiness at the team’s performance. “How we needed this win! We’ve worked really hard, and of course, we needed to score goals. Just really happy for the boys,” he stated. He acknowledged that while the victory was deserved, the team must focus on maintaining possession and being patient, especially when playing against teams with fewer players.

Player of the match, Auvray, also noted the team’s performance was not at its best, yet he commended their resilience and determination in securing the win. “I think the most important thing is that we won the game. I don’t think it’s our best performance, but I love the resilience, the discipline, and the great camaraderie,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, Bula FC has two more games in Round Two, and Krishna highlighted the critical nature of recovery to ensure the team’s readiness for upcoming matches. “Now to recovery; it’s really hot. We’ve got two more games in the round, and we go on from there,” he mentioned.

Krishna also dedicated the historic win to their fans, encouraging continued support throughout the season. Bula FC is set to face South Melbourne FC in their next fixture, scheduled for tomorrow at 5:30 PM at the Santos National Football Stadium.

With their first win under their belt, Extra Bula FC aims to build on this momentum and tackle the forthcoming challenges with a renewed sense of confidence and unity.
