Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has confirmed that the investigation into the unauthorized issuance of passports to children of individuals affiliated with the Grace Road Group has been concluded and forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for evaluation. This announcement coincides with the recent appointment of Viliame Naupoto as the new Minister for Immigration, a role previously held by Pio Tikoduadua. Tikoduadua had stepped down last November amid scrutiny over possible passport violations.

Rabuka noted that, due to the ongoing judicial review, he cannot share detailed information about the case. Tikoduadua previously highlighted the concerning issuance of these passports during his official duties in Australia, asserting that such actions were taken without his knowledge or the necessary approvals from senior immigration officials. This prompted Rabuka to temporarily assume the immigration portfolio while investigations were conducted by the Fiji Police Force and the Department of Immigration, leading to the suspension of Amelia Komaisavai, the Director of Immigration.
