The Department of Immigration’s booth attracted significant attention at the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) Retirement Expo in Suva this week, where the public capitalized on the opportunity to access services without needing an appointment.
Long lines formed at the Immigration booth located at Downtown Boulevard, coinciding with the four-day expo that showcased various government and private sector services.
James Pratap, a 49-year-old resident of Nausori, praised the initiative, stating, “This is a brilliant thought. I came here with my son to apply for his passport. Appointments with Immigration are fully booked until the end of the year and some even extend to next year, so this expo has allowed us to access this service conveniently.”
Similarly, Sneh Payal, 52, from Nasinu, expressed her satisfaction with the passport services, saying, “We came to the expo to apply for passports for my two grandchildren, and we are delighted that it was so easy and we didn’t have to wait long.”
The FNPF Retirement Expo aims to motivate individuals to proactively manage their retirement plans. Alipate Waqairawai, general manager of Member Services at FNPF, emphasized the importance of preparing early to ensure a fulfilling retirement.
In addition to Immigration, the expo featured services from a variety of government ministries, including Housing, Justice, Women, Health, and others, in addition to private sector organizations like BSP, HFC, ANZ, and the Fiji Development Bank.
The expo concludes today, providing an invaluable platform for the public to access crucial services and gain insights into retirement planning.
This event not only enhanced accessibility to essential services but also encouraged community engagement in financial planning for the future, demonstrating the commitment to serving the public’s needs efficiently.
