The General Secretary of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP) has announced that the internal processes of the party are now underway regarding the status of Lynda Tabuya, a party member and Member of Parliament who was recently removed from her cabinet position following the circulation of an explicit video.

Balawa stated that the disciplinary committee is actively working according to the party’s constitution, allowing Tabuya the opportunity to present her side of the story before the committee. The committee has been tasked with completing its investigation within 21 days and is composed of six members, including women, ensuring diverse representation.

Balawa emphasized the committee’s independence and the need to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of the process, allowing committee members to work without outside interference. During a recent PAP Executive Committee meeting, Party Leader and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka participated virtually, along with other senior members.

This situation underlines the party’s commitment to transparency and fairness in handling internal matters. It also presents an opportunity for reconciliation and growth within the party, as the investigation can lead to reinforcing the values and standards expected of its members.

Overall, the hope is that the outcome of this process will not only address the current issues but also strengthen the party’s internal dynamics moving forward.
