The Minister for Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, formally apologized to the House for his inappropriate behavior and language during his Ministerial Statement last Tuesday, acknowledging his actions under Standing Orders 80. Singh expressed regret for any remarks that may have offended fellow Members of Parliament.
In a similar vein, Opposition MP Praveen Bala also extended his apologies, stating that he regretted any unintended harm caused by his use of unparliamentary language.
Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu addressed the situation by urging all members to maintain decorum within the House. He noted the tendency for members to escalate tensions quickly and suggested that they consider the impact of their words on the public and children watching the proceedings, whether on television or from the gallery.
