The Minister for Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, issued an apology to the House under Standing Orders 80 for his inappropriate behavior and use of unparliamentary language during his Ministerial Statement last Tuesday. Singh acknowledged his actions, stating, “I would like to apologize to the House for any language or untoward comments I may have used that may have offended any individual Member.”

In a similar vein, Opposition MP Praveen Bala also apologized for any hurt caused by his own use of unparliamentary words.

Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu addressed the situation, urging all members to maintain decorum in the House. He emphasized the importance of staying composed, noting, “You seem to take off on a very speedy pace when you are cool to when you blow up your position.” Ratu Naiqama reminded members to consider the public and children watching the proceedings, either on television or in the gallery.
