Police are urging parents to inform their children that splashing water on moving vehicles is illegal. This appeal comes in response to growing concerns from motorists since the start of the New Year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu highlighted a troubling incident that went viral on social media, in which a bus driver was targeted. He emphasized the potential dangers involved, stating, “Such actions can cause accidents that may lead to injuries or death. Please celebrate responsibly and don’t throw water on moving vehicles.”

Driu clarified that those who throw water could face legal repercussions under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Act 1971, or for Negligent Acts Causing Harm under Section 269 of the Crimes Act 2009. He warned that the consequences of these actions could escalate to severe charges, including murder, depending on the injuries inflicted on victims.

He noted that many children do not fully grasp the serious consequences of their actions, making it crucial for parents to educate them. Driu also encouraged adults within communities to engage with children involved in such behavior to promote safety.
